Meet Freya
Freya is GLA’s principal lawyer, a science communicator and Churchill Fellow. She co-authored ‘Ground Breaking: Soil security & climate change’ and co-produced and hosts the documentary podcast series SOIL: Rewilding the Underground. Freya advocates for and advises on our soil-scapes.
Freya’s experience is diverse with a mix of not-for-profit, public and private-sector roles. She has worked in private practice performing front-end commercial work and commercial litigation, she’s been in-house at a Government Owned Corporation, and worked for government, providing legal advice to departmental officers. Freya has been on a wide range of intergovernmental working groups and conducted institutional reviews of statutory bodies, providing advice on structure, governance and strategy. She has also held complimentary non-legal roles from which she sharpened her understanding of risk management, governance and strategy.
Freya’s recent work has largely been statutory interpretation, administrative decision-making, and legal questions that arise in the implementation of regulatory frameworks. Freya has also continued her front-end commercial practice through contract drafting and review.
Freya is an engaging public speaker with a passion for discussing corporate risk, natural capital and soil.
